Frequently asked questions
01. Do you have an open house day?
Throughout the year, we offer collective videoconferences with interested families, in order to present the school and validate adherence to our values. The dates are communicated and updated every week on the Enrollment page.
During the high registration period, we organize several information meetings within the school. The dates are communicated on this site on our social networks and Enrollment page
02. HOW IS STUDENT PROGRESS ASSESSED?
Studies have shown that grades are not always a good assessment tool for students, so we do not give grades. On the other hand, it is important that the students can assess themselves, so we evaluate each concept individually with them, so they know what their strengths are and which concepts they must continue to work on.
03. HOW CAN I GET TO THE SCHOOL USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT?
The school is accessible by bus, the bus takes 15 minutes from the Rueil-Malmaison RER A station and less than 10 minutes from the Celle Saint-Cloud station.
04. WHEN ARE ENROLLMENTS?
Enrollments can be considered throughout the school year. To register for the following school year, we advise you to contact us in January.
05. IS LA JONCHERE A PUBLIC OR A PRIVATE SCHOOL?
We are an independant private institution. This allows us to be independent but also means that the financing is exclusively provided by individuals, we do not benefit from any help from the State or from local authorities
06. WHAT ARE YOUR PEDAGOGICAL APPROACHES?
We are a school with multiple pedagogies. We are inspired by different trends such as: Freinet and Montessori etc… To find out more click on this link
07. DO YOU OFFER LODGING for students?
No, our school does not have a boarding school.
08. DO YOU HAVE A CANTEEN ?
We have a contract with a private company who provides healthy and organic food daily. Every student and member of staff eat together in the same room, this helps build positive and trusting relationships between students and teachers.
09. IT equipment is included in the tuition fees, what does this consist of?
Each student is given a personal laptop and a headset which they use in certain lessons and for homework.
10. IS IT POSSIBLE TO RETURN TO PUBLIC SCHOOL LATER ON ?
Yes, it is possible and we put everything into place so that it can be done with ease. Some students wish to join La Jonchère to complete their entire schooling, others wish to join for only the middle school years. We understand that it is important for students to have the option to continue their studies in a public school. To return to a public school, the family must submit a request to the DSDEN of their ‘départment’, specifying the level in which they wish to enroll their child. The DSDEN will then inform you of the date on which a placement test will take place to check the consistency between the class requested and the level of the child. There is a test in mathematics, French and English to enter the final year of middle school and the first year of high school. For the lower middle school grades, there is a math test and a French test.
11.What are the possible "options" at Lycée La Jonchère in 1ère?
The options offered are as follows: mathematics, physics and chemistry, biology, economics and social sciences, digital and computer sciences and English literature (LLCER).
Depending on the student’s profile and intended career path, these options will be available from the first year of high school.
