First opened in September 2019, Lyc\u00e9e la Jonch\u00e8re (initially Harmony School) set out to render, school, a place where students find joy in learning. \nWe welcome students from 6th to 12th grade (\"6\u00e8me\" to \"Terminale\"). <\/strong> Our caring team of teachers are always there to help and encourage them to fulfill their potential. \n\n\n\nOur school has the unique aspect of having been co-constructed by teachers and business professionals; all believe in soft communication methods and open management models. \n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Committed to growing alongside our students, we opened our high school in 2021<\/strong>. Always striving for adaptability and flexibility, we launched the STMG (Management and Business Sciences) track in September 2023.<\/strong><\/p>

The results speak for themselves: 100% success rate in the baccalaur\u00e9at for our very first graduating class in 2024<\/strong>\u2014further proof that personal growth and academic success go hand in hand.<\/p>

We want to facilitate the success and well-being of all students<\/strong>, this is why we have decided to design a high school accessible to as many people as possible by allowing them to follow lessons remotely when their situation does not not allow them to come to class. <\/span>We also offer a scolarship system<\/strong> (more info on the Fees page)<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The idea that students can be educated without any punishments in place is often debated. The absence of punishment is for many synonymous with laxity and loss of authority for parents or teachers. However, while punishment can have lofty goals such as uplifting and making people understand the consequences of their actions, it can be ineffective, and at times traumatic.\n<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

From antiquity to the beginning of the 20th century, punishment had its heydays, sometimes in a context of unbearable educational violence. However, Rousseau, Montessori and Dolto made it possible to question the status of the child in society and therefore the place of punishment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

At Lyc\u00e9e La Jonch\u00e8re, we believe that a caring educational environment<\/strong> is important for children to develop their potential and become free thinking and responsible adults.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Self-discipline has been proven to bring greater satisfaction to adults and reduce problems in young people by increasing their self-esteem, their sense of initiative as well as their <\/span>social and academic success.<\/a><\/p>

Without punishments, we allow our students to grow in empathy and self-discipline without however compromising on the respect towards the teachers or on\u00a0 academic achievements.<\/strong><\/p>

Even if we clearly state and repeat the rules<\/strong>, a student can still resist and\u00a0 challenge them. Within our pedagogy, rather than this being seen as a\u00a0 fault to be punished, this behaviour will be considered as a learning curve for them to understand that they must rectify their behaviour.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

The gain in maturity is invaluable in this process and the circle becomes virtuous:<\/strong> the more the child (or adolescent) is empowered by trust, the more they mature and the more they will respect the rules.<\/span><\/p>

The school has many tools put into place to help the process. There are m\u00e9diation between peers\u00a0 <\/a>and peer mentoring. The students and their parents as well as our teachers have also all been trained using the Thomas Gordon communication method\u00a0<\/a> that ensures there is never a \u2018loser\u2019 after a heated discussion but instead mutual understanding and compromise.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This idea can be summed up as finding what gives your life purpose and value but in a concrete way. It is about finding what makes you want to get up in the morning. Ikigai takes into account several aspects:

\n- What we like \/ What we are good at \/ What matters to us \/ What we can be paid to do\n
\n- Our passion\/vocation\/mission\/profession\n

\n\nFinding your IKIGAI (which can evolve over the course of a lifetime!) means giving meaning to your existence, reaching the pinnacle of your own fulfilment. A win-win approach<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

For Thomas Gordon, cantor of humanistic psychology, and nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize, these elements establish a de facto balance of power between the adult and the child: it is believed that only the adult knows, and that to transmit knowledge to the child, he must install authority so that the latter integrates the rule or carries out the orders\u2026 However, the balance of power \u201cbreaks the relationship of trust between the adult and the child\u201d. For Thomas Gordon, it is above all a question of restoring confidence through a method of non-violent communication allowing the expression of needs and emotions. In this approach, the adult remains the model (they have to be!) and facilitates learning because \"There is no greater education than to be an example yourself\" - Albert Einstein.\n

His contributions are essential to the values \u200b\u200bof Lyc\u00e9e La Jonch\u00e8re. We believe in the benefits of authentic and sincere communication. At Lyc\u00e9e la Jonch\u00e8re, we are convinced that it is essential that the teacher-student relationship be one of trust so that learning can take place efficiently. Our teachers and all our team are trained in the Gordon method and put it into practice with our young people. They actively listen to the students' needs and emotions.
