A New Bilingual Section <\/b>
at La Jonch\u00e8re<\/b><\/h1>\n

We are delighted to announce the opening of a bilingual section at La Jonch\u00e8re: a new chapter that builds naturally on who we are and what we have always believed in.<\/p>\n\n

Since its founding, English has been a cornerstone of life at La Jonch\u00e8re. Today, we are proud to carry this tradition forward by offering a bilingual pathway designed to open doors, nurture confidence, and prepare students for an international future.<\/p>\n\n

Starting September 2026: 6\u1d49 Bilingue<\/b><\/p>\n\n

Beginning in September 2026, La Jonch\u00e8re will welcome its first 6\u1d49 bilingue, with an 80% English \/ 20% French teaching ratio.\nAll subjects, except French and part of mathematics, will be taught in English by native English-speaking teachers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Our bilingual section is open to all motivated students<\/strong>, regardless of their starting level in English or French. What matters most is curiosity, commitment, and the desire to grow in a supportive and stimulating environment.<\/p>\n\n

In the years ahead, the bilingual section will expand progressively, opening a 5\u1d49, 4\u1d49, and beyond<\/strong>, all the way through Terminale.\n From 5\u1d49 onward, instruction will move toward a 50\/50 English-French<\/strong> language balance, ensuring strong academic foundations in both languages.<\/p>\n

\n\n— Students who are motivated and able to engage in intensive English learning inside and outside of the classroom

Language Requirements and Assessment<\/b><\/h5>\n

There is no minimum language level<\/strong> required to enter the bilingual section in 6\u1d49. However, students will be expected to reach a defined level by the end of the year in order to progress within the bilingual pathway.<\/p>\n

When needed, individual or small-group support can be offered to help students succeed.<\/p>\n

Support for English-Speaking Students<\/b><\/h5>\n

What is Cambridge English? <\/b><\/h3>\n

Cambridge English qualifications are recognised by thousands of universities, employers, and governments around the world. Obtaining these highly regarded CECRL certificates not only enhances a student\u2019s language and communication skills but also opens up doors to higher education and employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n

Our bilingual section\u2019s structure ensures that our students will be able to move up the language learning ladder at an appropriate pace, one step at a time, all while developing real-life English skills and a love for the language.<\/p>\n

What is the IGCSE?<\/b><\/h3>\n

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is a set of examinations and qualifications designed for 14 to 16-year-olds. This qualification is aligned with the GCSEs taken by students in the UK and its curriculum offers strong international recognition, as well as a broad range of subjects and a development of analytical skills.<\/p>\n\n

As part of our bilingual section at La Jonch\u00e8re, 2nde students will work towards obtaining the English and maths IGCSE, with the option to take other IGCSE exams such as history and literature. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
